The Delhi High Court has held back its order on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal‘s case in which he sought regular bail in regard to the excise policy case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has named Kejriwal to have a role as the “sutradhaar” (facilitator) of the alleged scam.
CBI’s Allegations
Representing the CBI during the court proceedings, DP Singh (Special Public Prosecutor) aired that the detainee problem was reached only after finding out the solid material evidence. Singh claimed that it was after the arrest that many people, including some members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), came with information, which in turn became points of evidence.
The CBI alleged that it has evidence that shows Kejriwal’s direct involvement in the excise policy scam, and they expressed the concern that he might influence the witnesses even after the charge sheet was filed.
Defense Arguments
Kejriwal’s lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, defended the government by saying that the agencies had not questioned the chief minister since his arrest, except during police remand. According to Singhvi, there is no direct evidence or recovery associated with Kejriwal, so he describes the case as a hearsay.
Singhvi also pointed out that the policy of excise was a collective decision made by the bureaucrats, including the Governor and nine ministries, so the investigation should be expanded beyond Kejriwal. He called the CBI out for not making the L-G the case’s accused.

These developments in the case have made the political landscape in Delhi more complex, the AAP leader is now under serious allegations that might not only cost him his political career but also the proper functioning of his government.
