Advocate Raises Concerns Over Offensive Use of Jackie’s Identity
Advocate Pravin Anand, representing Shroff, informed the court about the offensive use of Jackie’s images in memes and the misappropriation of his voice for similar purposes.

Seeking Comprehensive Protection
In his plea before the High Court, Jackie Shroff seeks protection for his names—Jackie Shroff, Jackie, Jaggu Dada—as well as his nickname ‘Bhidu’, stressing that his attributes should not be exploited without authorization on any platform.

Request for Digital Protection
Additionally, Jackie has requested the intervention of the Department of Technology and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) to remove all unlawful links and websites that violate his personality rights.

Precedent Set by Anil Kapoor’s Case
This legal move by Jackie Shroff follows a similar action taken by actor Anil Kapoor last year to protect his personality rights. Anil Kapoor successfully won his case in January this year, resulting in the protection of his name, voice, image, likeness, manner of speaking, gestures, and even his iconic catchphrase ‘jhakaas’.
