Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Russia’s highest civilian honour, the Order of St Andrew the Apostle

The President of Russia (Vladimir Putin) said the award is a “testimony to Russia’s sincere gratitude” for Modi’s “significant contribution” to building up the ties between the two nations.

The president of Russia said, “You have always actively advocated broader contacts with our country. When you were the CM of Gujarat, you came up with initiatives to twin your state with the Russian region,”.

Acclaiming Modi’s contribution towards “building a resilient framework for Russian Indian cooperation,” The President said, “… both our nations are defending the principle of multipolarity for the sake of stability, global and regional security and working closely in BRICS and SCO.”

 

PM Modi gave his heartfelt respect to President Putin upon receiving the award for honouring him with Russia’s highest civilian honour.

PM Modi said, “This honour is not just mine, this is the honour of 140 crore Indians. This is the honour of the centuries-old deep friendship and mutual trust between India and Russia. This is the honour of our special and privileged strategic partnership,”.

In the past for more than 2 decades, Under Putin’s control, India-Russia relations have built up in all directions and have achieved new success each time, said by PM Modi.

 

He also added, “The foundation of strategic ties between the two nations that you had laid has only further strengthened with the passing of time. Our mutual cooperation, based on people-to-partnership, is becoming the hope and guarantee of a better future of our people…”.

 

As PM Modi hugged Putin during a recent meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy the President of Ukraine boldly criticised him and said it was a “huge disappointment and a devastating blow”.
