Mumbai, India: Social media and newly minted Bollywood actor Jibraan Khan who is the son of Firoz Khan says ‘I don’t think my experience was like most star kids even though I am the son of Firoz Khan’. Although he had a small role in the film “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” Jibraan, 30, was dropped soon after, but he admits that the movie gave him a chance to struggle and make necessary efforts to get the first breakthrough in Bollywood.
Looking back, Jibraan expresses, “If I have the same opportunities as other star kids, I should have started ages ago…K3G is going to complete 25 years of its making and it has been quite a wait… I don’t have such godfathers in the industry.”
Thus, Jibraan was left to fend for himself in the field of acting, even though his father was an actor in the 1980s and 1990s. He learned theatre, and kathak, and underwent rigorous body-building training also but could never find out the right role. “My father had connections he could have introduced me to big stars, but he said no, his son should be ready first he did not want to hand me things on a platter,” Jibraan said.
He has brought up a turning point when at 20 he laid a question to his father. “I said I want him to take me to his connection, he busy laughed and said to me, Jibraan what if they say you don’t deserve to act?” That I think was the turning point.
However, now in plans to release films as a lead actor, Jibraan learnt that it’s not as bad as it could be to embrace the past. “They still call me Krish Raichand from ‘K3G. I used to wish once that I could shed this role but I understand that it is a boon that people embrace me with this character till I transform into a different character of Krish.”
