Honda Motor of Japan revealed its strategy to launch six new electric vehicle (EV) models under the brand Ye in China by 2027. Additionally, the automaker aims to introduce a total of 10 Honda-branded EV models in the same timeframe. This move is part of Honda’s commitment to transitioning to a 100% EV sales portfolio in China by 2035.
The company, Japan’s second-largest carmaker, has been trailing behind its European and American counterparts like General Motors and Volkswagen in accelerating EV sales. In response to the growing competition from Chinese EV manufacturers, Honda, along with Nissan Motor, has been exploring a potential partnership focusing on essential components and software.
Earlier this year, in January, Honda showcased its “Honda 0 Series” EVs along with two concept models at the CES trade show in Las Vegas. This event marked Honda’s proactive approach towards electrification and its endeavor to expand its presence in the burgeoning EV market.
