Hemant Soren to Be Sworn in as Jharkhand Chief Minister on July 7
Jharkhand Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan has invited JMM leader Hemant Soren to form the state government. This follows the resignation of senior party leader Champai Soren from the chief minister post. Hemant Soren, recently out on bail, is set to be sworn in as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister on July 7, according to party general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya.
“We have received the Governor’s invitation to form the government and take the oath. The CM, along with his cabinet, will take the oath on July 7,” Bhattacharya told ANI.
Champai Soren resigned just five months after assuming office, creating an opportunity for Hemant Soren to resume the role. Hemant Soren, the executive president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was previously arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in January on charges related to an alleged land scam and money laundering. Before his arrest, Soren stepped down as chief minister. He was granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court on June 28.
