Delhi Government to Regulate Coaching Centers After Tragedy

Delhi, — In wake of the latest calamity where three civil services aspirants drowned in a flooded basement of a coaching institute, Minister responsible for education in the Delhi government,Atishi said several steps were being taken to mitigate the problem and prevent more such occurrences.

 During the press conference on Wednesday, Minister Atishi shed light on the actions taken by the Delhi government through the closure of the basements of 30 coaching centers. Further, for violations for conducting classes and libraries in basements, notices have been issued to 200 other institutes identified with the offenses. 

 The event led to the Delhi government accounting the enforcement authorities who are responsible for the rules. A junior engineer, who was responsible for managing and supervising the drain and stopping encroachment in Delhi Municipal Corporation has been fired. In addition, an assistant engineer to oversee drainage and completion regulation statuses has been suspended.

 Minister Atishi stated on the same that the government is willing to ensure that the issue is investigated to the last detail. “These two officers have been suspended, it has been done I want to assure the people of Delhi and the nation that anyone who is found guilty in the inquiry, starting from a constable to an officer, will be punished severely This magisterial inquiry will take not more than six days and action will be taken therefrom,” she said. 

 With an aim of tackling the problem in a much broader way and, therefore, introducing a new law, the Delhi Government aims to regulate coaching centers in the entire territory of Delhi. The following new legislation will address the guidelines concerning infrastructure and fees of these intuitions. 

 Some of them are Drishti IAS, Vajiram, Sriram IAS, Sanskriti Academy, IAS Gurukul, and many more. 

 The proposed regulatory measures are expected to help correct the improper elevation of safety risks and therefore extend more compliance in the coaching business in Delhi.
