In the Machhedi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, an encounter has started between terrorists and security forces after an army truck was attacked by armed terrorists on Monday afternoon, officials said.
“An army truck was attacked by armed terrorists in the Machedi area of Billawar in Kathua district on Monday afternoon. However, soldiers travelling in the vehicle retaliated and a gunfight has started,” said an official, who declined to be named.
More reinforcements have been rushed to the area.
Anayat Ali Choudhary, senior superintendent of police (SSP) in Kathua confirmed the incident but declined to share any details about it.
Of late, Jammu & Kashmir has been disturbed by a sudden attack of terror.
On Sunday, a soldier was injured in an encounter at a sentry post in Galuthi village in the Manjakote area of Rajouri district during the tiny hours. The incident occurred near 155 territorial army headquarters under the jurisdiction of Patara police station in Manjakote between 3.56 am and 4.26 am. According to familiar people in the matter, about 50 to 60 rounds were fired during the exchange of fire that lasted for about half an hour. The injured soldier was shifted to 49 RR Hospital in Manjakote. Later, He was declared to be out of danger.
