The series that would take place between August 3 and 7 shall have the two legendary cricketers indulging in partnership on the field, though their off the field rivalry is well known.

Gambhir is a new head coach of the Indian men’s team and not on good terms with Kohli at all. This history had raise brow when Gambhir assumed the coaching responsibility. However, in a bid to promote a healthy working relationship Kohli has said that he will not let the bitter past affect him and that he is willing to work with BCCI.

The first glimpse of this change in dynamics was seen when Kohli agreed for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. In addition to Kohli, other classified seniors like Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah had started requesting for longer breaks after the T20 World Cup triumph. However, at the insistence of Gambhir, Kohli and Sharma consented to play in the series with the exclusion of Bumrah still due to the issue of workload.

A news report on Cricbuzz emphasized that Kohli explained, in talk pertaining to Barbados after the T20 world cup series against South Africa, that he was ready to bury the hatchet and move past all controversies with Gambhir.

I met Kohli and wished him before the Indian team left for Pallekele to play three T20Is starting from July 27, Gambhir said in a statement. And that’s our job. It is irrelevant as to what I said, how many times was I able to speak to him, be it after the announcement, before the announcement or during a game, after games. Sometimes it seems that because people want loud headlines, it matters. “

There is no doubt of the rivalry between the two teams and one of the fiercest clashes that were held in May in the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Though, later in the same year they bury the hatchet and Gambhir hugs Kohli during an IPL match and even laugh together.

Kohli later said this at a PUMA event and made a sarcastic remark to trolls, who did not like this sort of reconciliation. Kohli said in response: “People are very disappointed in my behaviour Now I’m hugging Naveen and then, the other day, Gauti bhai [Gautam Gambhir] came and hugged me Your masala is over popular, so you’re booing We’re not kids anymore.
